The Gables is named as 1 of over 1000 great places to stay & play nationwide...
"Try this place for Afternoon Tea before going to dinner - & then, yes, come back again for dinner- and you'll find yourself declaring it 'perfection' since this relaxing Beach Haven Inn boasts a 'wonderful' restaurant with 'innovative' tasting menus."

We are blessed, the weather on the island has been warm and breezy. Days so sweet you wish you could bottle them for winter.

It’s always a pleasure to welcome folks to Long Beach Island for the first time... to point the way to the ocean or the bay, give them our special beach towels and a chair and know that when they come back from their afternoon, they are a little mellower, and have that great summer glow. Then they shower or soak in their private whirlpool tub, and come downstairs to a fine dinner in our dining room.

The flowers in the front of the Gables are humungous this year. As folks walk up the brick path they are surrounded by flowers on both sides. Our heirloom hydrangeas are by the porch, and the bright saffron colored daylilies are by the street. Our oak leaf hydrangeas are over 6 feet tall this year, and the nine hanging pots of pansies on the porch are bursts of purple and pink. The grapevine has really gained ground this year in the garden. It covers almost half of the roof of the loggia. Our crepe myrtle is in full bloom this week and the flowers look like snow. All credit to healthy plants is given to my husband Steve, my little Italian farmer.

We’d love to have you visit, midweek stays are still available.

Best,
Sondra

A small, refined Long Beach Island hotel and restaurant, The Gables is a meticulously restored Victorian inn combining the charm of a fine 1890s home with contemporary comforts and the finest food and service. Our award-winning restaurant is a destination in itself, at any time, as we serve breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner, and after-theatre suppers.

An overnight stay in one of our five romantic guestrooms provides a rare break from everyday stresses andstrains. Complete with period furnishings and fine linens, each has a working fireplace or a free-standing iron stove — and also includes modern amenities like a luxurious marble bathroom, flat screen TV and WIFI. A gourmet breakfast is included.

Located on the ocean side of historic Beach Haven, NJ on LBI, our New Jersey inn makes the perfect base for exploring nearby attractions. Right down the street, the Surflight presents live, legitimate theatre; a sugar sand beach is a block away; tour fishing boats are available for hire; and galleries, antiques shops and bookstores beckon. Farther afield, the Jersey bay shore has invitingly weathered little towns that date back to the seafaring 1600s; New Jersey wineries offer tours and tastings; and local salt marshes and coves attract thousands of migratory birds that delight visitors. We are proud to be part of this vibrant community, and hope we may welcome you often.
